Lens Crop 1 and 2 explores the gesture of holding within found familial photographs. Bird views the family photograph as a performance, domestic gestures choreographed through the camera's lens. The gestures are screen printed in graphite and fused together between baked glass and solder referencing the forced connections created between the body pictured and the photograph created by the camera's lens. The images trapped in a moment of tension between the glass depict the act of holding and through Bird's translation we observe the relationship they have to gender, family and proximity.
