Exhibition: Edition Three
5 March - 30 April 2022 | Bankstown Arts Centre, Sydney
Showcasing the diversity of expanded printmaking, Edition Three sought to spotlight experimentation as a methodology within etching, linocut, serigraphy, and monoprinting. This group exhibition featured emerging women artists from across Sydney, celebrating contemporary printmaking practice and the versatility of print-related media in both focused and cross-disciplinary practices.
Affinities between methods and practices prevailed throughout the exhibition, building upon printmaking traditions to create new layers of meaning that bridge the present with the past. Emerging from the exhibition was a sense of connectedness, not through a linear inheritance or relationship, but developed through a sharing of knowledge, material processes and tradition.
Edition Three was the third exhibition in More Than Reproduction’s Edition series, a group of shows that spotlight the artists within their community in celebration of International Women’s Day. The artists in the exhibition were comprised of More Than Reproduction’s profiled artists and those with a connection to South-West Sydney, where Bankstown Arts Centre is situated.
