After reading an article by the Sydney Morning Herald, ‘Women in Art study reveals 50 per cent gender pay gap’ (2018) it was discovered that after extensive research over multiple years and multiple different countries that female artists have made 47.6% less than male artists.

My series I have cropped famous Australian male artworks by 50% and in a response placed the beginning of Linda Nochlin’s essay ‘Why Have There Been No Great Women Artists’ as a critique on the pay gap within the Art world. By manipulating some of her text such as Names, pronouns and phrases to reinforce her essay and how heavily male dominated the art world is. The male artists used include Sidney Nolan, Brett Whitely, Reg Mombassa and Russell Drysdale.
